Making a Call of Cthulhu fan film for the HP Lovecraft Film Festival. Run into a snag. We are trying to make a die fly from a person's hand and embed into a characters skull... In one shot... Any thoughts folks?

If the shot is fast enough (or artificially sped up as well), then it will sufficiently disguise the fact that there's already a small hole in the victim's forehead (though you can also saw off one corner of the die, so that there is a flat spot there for it to lay against the forehead while seeming to be embedded). And you can always ad or subtract detail (like blood on impact) in After Effects.

Fri, May 21, 2004 - 7:03 PMThere is always the good old whip pan.
Focus in on the person flinging the die (or having it yanked, whatever) and let it fly... at nobody, then whip the camera around in a blur to the person with a die already imbedded in their head for the reaction shot. the illusion being that they are facing eachother and not at 90 degrees.
Used for arrows and throwing knives for years.
