I was being a little flip but CG is really taking off in the film industry.
It has completely taken the place of traditional modelmaking because it's a lot faster and cheaper to do it in the computer.
It is very rare to see a model being built unless it's for a client who really needs to "get the feel" for the actual piece, before say... building a large scale set or something.
(which also has become rare... ie: Star Wars ep.3 etc...)

As far as museum pieces go, best to find a shop that specializes in that sort of thing... my knowledge in that area is limited.
If you run across a place that needs sculptors, let me know... we're feeling the pinch as well.
